Triumphant Return: Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Resumes Duties at Senate After Office Unsealing

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has officially resumed her duties at the Senate on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, hours after her office was unsealed. This development comes after a long-standing controversy surrounding her suspension.

The senator's suspension was lifted following a court ruling that deemed the six-month suspension excessive and lacking legal justification. Despite an appeal by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Akpoti-Uduaghan remained resolute in her decision to resume duties.

Akpoti-Uduaghan's return to the Senate marks a significant step in her bid to continue serving her constituents. Her lawyer, Victor Giwa, had previously dismissed the Senate's resolution as a violation of a court order, emphasizing that the suspension was null and void.

The senator's supporters, including activist Aisha Yesufu and rights advocate Mama P, accompanied her to the National Assembly, where they were initially met with security personnel denying them entry. The group eventually marched to the complex, singing solidarity songs in support of Akpoti-Uduaghan.

With her resumption of duties, Akpoti-Uduaghan is poised to continue her legislative work, focusing on the needs of her constituents and advocating for their rights.
