EFCC Distances Itself from Ex-Staff’s TV Appearance

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has disowned a former staff member, Olakunle Alex Folarin, following his recent appearance on a popular matchmaking TV program hosted by entertainer Lege Miami.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Commission clarified that Folarin was dismissed from service years ago and therefore does not represent the agency in any form or capacity. The EFCC stressed that his views or public conduct should not be linked to the commission’s operations or integrity.

The agency further warned the public to beware of individuals parading themselves as EFCC officials or former staff members while engaging in questionable activities.

According to the statement:

“The attention of the Commission has been drawn to the participation of one Mr. Olakunle Alex Folarin, a dismissed staff of the EFCC, in a televised matchmaking show. We wish to categorically state that he is no longer in our service and does not represent the Commission in any capacity.”

The EFCC reiterated its commitment to professionalism, integrity, and the fight against financial crimes, adding that disciplinary measures, including dismissal, are enforced on staff members found guilty of misconduct.

The development comes amid growing scrutiny of public officials and the need to maintain the credibility of anti-corruption institutions in Nigeria.
