Cuba's Fidel Castro Centenary: African Democratic Congress Salutes Iconic Leader, Demands End to US Embargo

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has paid tribute to the late Cuban leader, Fidel Castro, on the occasion of his centenary. Speaking at the commemoration event, ADC National Secretary Ogbemi Rauf Aregbesola described Castro as a humanist who sought to make the world a better place.

Aregbesola highlighted Cuba's contributions to global healthcare, noting that the country has sent over 10,000 medical personnel worldwide, caring for millions. He also commended Cuba's solidarity with Africa during the apartheid era, particularly in Angola.

The ADC official called on the United States to end its 63-year economic embargo on Cuba, echoing the United Nations General Assembly's annual demand since 1992.
