Kaduna State University (KASU) convened its 18th Meeting of the Congregation on Thursday, 12th December 2024, bringing together staff members to reflect on the institution's progress, address challenges, and chart a course for the future. The meeting, held at the university’s1000-seater auditorium, was chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, who delivered a keynote address emphasizing KASU’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and transparency.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor highlighted several achievements that have positioned the university as a leader in higher education. Among these were the sponsorship of staff for local and international training programs, promotion of sporting activities to enhance physical and mental well-being, and the adoption of digital tools to disrupt traditional processes and foster efficiency. He also underscored the university’s open-door policy, which has strengthened communication and collaboration across departments.

Prof. Musa lauded the institution’s internally generated revenue (IGR) initiatives, which have been pivotal in sustaining operations. He also commended efforts to promote staff welfare, including the timely payment of postgraduate (PG) allowances and the implementation of a robust reward system that celebrates excellence among employees. The promotion of staff across various cadres was also noted as a testament to KASU's commitment to career development.

The Vice Chancellor further outlined the university’s ongoing projects, including the installation of solar panels by KASU Green, the provision of free Wi-Fi at seven designated stations on campus, and the establishment of the Corporate Services Directorate to streamline communication and showcase the university's activities.

The Registrar, Barr. Samira Balarabe introduced a new self-nomination avenue for exceptional staff, a component of the employee recognition program aimed at encouraging excellence and rewarding outstanding contributions.

During discussions on discipline, it was resolved that a structured approach would be adopted, starting with verbal warnings, followed by one-on-one engagements, and, if necessary, referral to the disciplinary committee.

The meeting also included a robust question-and-answer session, where staff shared their suggestions, contributions, and complaints. The management assured attendees that all feedback would be thoroughly reviewed and addressed.

In conclusion, the 18th Meeting of the Congregation reaffirmed KASU’s commitment to encouraging  a collaborative, transparent, and progressive work environment. With its focus on innovation, staff development, and sustainability, the university continues to solidify its reputation as a center of excellence.
