Unbroken Violence: Tracking 1–20 Nov Bandit Attacks Across the Northwest

Between 1st and 20th November 2025, I documented relentless escalations in armed banditry across Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Kano States. The attacks, ranging from village invasions, highway blockades, market raids, school abductions, cattle rustling, and targeted assassinations, continue to deepen humanitarian suffering and insecurity in rural communities.

Estimated Impact (1–20 November):

Katsina State

● Dozens killed and injured

● Well over 150 civilians abducted

● Widespread rustling, highway ambushes, and repeated assaults on farming communities

● Multiple communities in Malumfashi, Bakori, Kankara, Jibia, Musawa, Ingawa repeatedly targeted

Zamfara State

● Dozens killed, several injured

● At least 100 civilians abducted

● Markets and farmlands attacked, villages burned

● Heavy rustling and repeated attacks in Tsafe, Maradun, Shinkafi, Talata Mafara, Anka, Bukkuyyum

Sokoto State

● High fatality rate across multiple LGAs

● Over 120 abducted

● Communities in Wurno, Sabon Birni, Isa, Yabo, Goronyo hit by coordinated nighttime raids

Kebbi State

● Significant casualties, including senior officials and educators

● Over 70 abducted

● School invasion in Maga; multiple farm & roadside abductions in Wasagu, Bagudu, Ngaski

Kano State

● Lower casualty toll compared to neighbours

● Several killed, others injured

● Cattle rustling, POS robbery, and village raids recorded in Shanono, Ghari, and Tsanyawa.

Across the region, communities suffered:

● Hundreds abducted

● Scores killed and injured

● Large-scale livestock rustling

● Burning of homes, farms, shops and vehicles

● Repeated attacks on farmers, travellers, schools and markets

Despite isolated security successes like army rescues in Kebbi State and recovered cattle in Katsina State, the scale of attacks this month shows the deepening crisis in the Northwest.

I will continue to document verified incidents as they unfold.
