Army Rescues 5, Arrests Extremist, Recovers Arms Across Multiple States

The Nigerian Army has carried out successful counter-insurgency and anti-crime operations across several states, leading to the rescue of five kidnapped victims, the arrest of a suspected extremist, and the recovery of assorted arms and ammunition.

According to official reports, the coordinated operations were conducted in Katsina, Edo, and Niger States, where troops intensified clearance patrols and responded to credible intelligence on criminal hideouts.

In Katsina State, troops stormed a suspected terrorist enclave and rescued three kidnapped victims without paying ransom. In Edo State, two more victims were freed after a swift operation along identified kidnapping routes.

Meanwhile, in Niger State, security forces arrested a suspected extremist believed to have links with armed groups operating in the North-Central region. Weapons recovered during the operations included AK-47 rifles, magazines, live rounds of ammunition, and other dangerous weapons.

The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families, while the suspect is undergoing further interrogation for actionable intelligence.

The army reiterated its commitment to eliminating criminal elements across the country and restoring peace and security in affected communities. It also urged citizens to continue cooperating with security forces by providing timely and credible information.
