Nigerians Must Firmly Reject Security Collaboration with Israel

News that the Nigerian government and the State of Israel have agreed to collaborate on tackling insecurity — particularly through intelligence sharing and security training — should alarm every patriotic Nigerian. This is not a partnership to celebrate; it is one to reject outrightly.

First, Israel is currently engaged in an ongoing ethnic cleansing in Gaza, actions that have earned it global condemnation. Its military campaign has killed thousands of civilians, destroyed homes, and devastated communities — acts many countries and international bodies see as war crimes.

As a result , Israel’s international image has collapsed, and it is dangerously close to becoming a pariah state. Across the world, countries are severing ties with Israel in protest. Why then should Nigeria, a sovereign African nation, even contemplate collaboration with such a government ?.

Second, Israel cannot be trusted with our security information. The Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency, has a long-standing global reputation for espionage and covert interference in other countries’ affairs. Granting Israel access to Nigeria’s security data and vulnerabilities is akin to handing over our national defense secrets to a foreign power whose loyalty lies only with its own interests.

Third, there are serious questions about the role of Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu in facilitating this arrangement. Her political history and personal ties raise concerns that she may be working in alignment with Biafran separatist interests, not the collective Nigerian interest. We have seen how Nnamdi Kanu and other Biafran agitators have repeatedly linked themselves to Israel, seeking its support for their agenda. This should be a red flag for anyone thinking clearly about national unity and stability.

Fourth, history shows that Israel often seeks to loot natural resources and push regime changes to advance its agenda in countries where it gains influence. Allowing such a state into our security, economy, or agricultural systems — as this agreement reportedly proposes — risks opening the door to exploitation and destabilization.

Finally, Israel’s track record of using "security collaboration" as a cover for deeper political manipulation means Nigeria could become another pawn in its geopolitical chess game. Our insecurity could worsen, not improve, as we cede critical ground to a foreign power with its own covert ambitions.

This is why Nigerians must vehemently oppose this development. We must:

Raise our voices individually and collectively through civil society groups, professional bodies, religious organizations, and advocacy platforms.

Petition the Presidency directly to dissolve this arrangement before it gains deeper roots.

Pressure our representatives in the National Assembly to reject any legislative or budgetary approvals connected to this partnership.

We owe this to our country, to our security, and to our sovereignty. Nigeria’s path to peace and development must be built on trust, independence, and strategic alliances with genuine partners — not on risky deals with states known for oppression, espionage, and resource exploitation.

If we allow this to pass quietly, we will have ourselves to blame when our security is compromised, our resources plundered, and our unity shattered.
